In rare cases, the installer UI may look broken or appear incorrectly.

If that happens, please contact us.

Installer showing a "Connection Error" ▾

A connection error during installation is usually caused by one of the following:

1. Antivirus, firewall, or VPN interference

Security programs may block communication with Overwolf’s servers.
Please whitelist Overwolf or temporarily disable the software during installation.

2. Corrupted machine.config file

To repair it:

  1. Open: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\

  2. Go to v2.0.50727config

  3. Replace machine.config with machine.config.default

    • Delete machine.config

    • Copy machine.config.default

    • Rename the copy to machine.config

  4. Repeat steps 1–3 for v4.0.30319

  5. Then repeat the process in:
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\

3. Overwolf server downtime

This may be temporary. Try again after a short while.

4. Weak or unstable Wi-Fi

Connect using a wired connection or stabilize your Wi-Fi.

5. ISP (Internet Service Provider) blocking the connection

Contact your ISP to request removal of the block.

Installer not starting / finishing properly ▾

Overwolf relies on the .NET Framework, and sometimes the installed .NET components may malfunction, preventing the installer from running correctly.

First, check that .NET Framework 3.5 is enabled:

  1. Open Control Panel.

  2. Select Programs or Programs and Features.

  3. Click Turn Windows features on or off.

  4. Ensure .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) is checked.

  5. If another .NET version appears in the list, make sure it is checked as well.

  6. Restart your system if prompted and try launching the installer again.

If .NET Framework 3.5 is already enabled, you may need to reinstall .NET Framework 4.8.
Instructions can be found in this article.

If you still prefer to perform a clean installation, please make sure to back up any important app data first (such as recordings). A clean install gives Overwolf a fresh start and may resolves persistent errors.

1. Uninstall Overwolf

  1. Press Start.

  2. Open the Control Panel.

  3. Go to Programs and Features.

  4. Locate Overwolf and select Uninstall.

After the uninstall completes:

  • Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86).

  • If an Overwolf folder still exists, delete it.

2. Remove Local App Data

  1. Press Windows Key + R.

  2. Type: %localappdata%

  3. Press Enter.

  4. Find and delete the Overwolf folder.

3. Reinstall Overwolf

Once everything is removed, download Overwolf (along with your preferred app) Here or from our website and launch it again.

You should now have a clean, fresh Overwolf installation.

Installation file is getting removed ▾

If the installer finishes downloading but disappears from your Downloads folder, an antivirus or download manager is likely deleting it automatically.

You may see “Removed” or “Failed – Download error” in your browser’s downloads list.

This issue is commonly caused by SAntivirus / Segurazo, but other programs may behave similarly.

Please temporarily disable your antivirus software and redownload the installer.
