RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS) is a hardware monitoring and overlay tool. When running alongside Overwolf, it may cause performance issues in your games such as low FPS, mouse lag, freezes, or problems launching Overwolf or displaying its overlay.

In some cases, RivaTuner can prevent Overwolf from running entirely, resulting in the error:
"Whoops... unable to load Overwolf. Please restart to try again."

How to Fix This Issue

Option 1: Update and Adjust RivaTuner Settings

If you prefer not to close RivaTuner completely, update it to version 7.2.3 or higher, then adjust the following settings:

  • Application detection level: Low

  • Stealth mode: OFF

  • Custom Direct3D support: OFF

  • On-Screen Display coordinate space: Framebuffer

 


These settings help prevent conflicts between the two overlays.

Option 2: Exclude Overwolf and Your Game

You can also add Overwolf.exe and your game’s .exe file to RivaTuner’s Application profile properties, then set:

  • Application detection level: None

This effectively prevents RivaTuner from hooking into those processes, eliminating the conflict.
